Wild prints

A few things I found on the weekend while op shopping - I love the different prints, colours and shapes. Can't wait to wear these pre-loved items!

It just caught my eye...

Everyday I walk - I don't drive... I haven't got my license so my main mode of transportation are my feet and to be honest it really does not bother me (as much as some people think it should). I enjoy the fresh air and I get to see a lot of beautiful/really cool things as I go!

Bentleigh train station on my way home from work one day.

Lane way near my house in Armadale.

Back streets near Chapel St, Prahan (Disappointment set in when I went to get a better shot of this piece to find it had been painted over).

My plaited bad is coming along nicely (I hope to have a finished photo up soon)... but some people in my house think it's a much better hat!

Hope you all enjoyed the weekend as much as I did!

Another day, another dollar

I promised myself I would post everyday (except weekends) - fail! I've been sick this week and have been at home the past 3 days on the couch, away from blog land. I have spent the days napping and stitching (I successfully managed my first attempt at paper piecing hexagons which I loved and also worked on my plaited bag) - it would have been relaxing minus the flu!

Now back to the daily bump and grind - I've come back to work with 100 things to do. Everything is going full steam ahead here at Amitie. There's always things to do - I never thought retail could be so busy until I started working here! Today website - next week, show prep (which never seems to end)!

Plaited purses

I love working with plaits. I have been making coin purses out of plaited strips of fabric and absolutely love the way they look! Whether it be plains, all the same print or just whatever is lying around I think they are adorable!

But now onto something a little bigger - a handbag maybe? Let's see how I go!

Thank god it's Friday - Thank god for cake!

A little afternoon snack to celebrate the end of another busy week at work... Looks like Mum got to afternoon tea before I could get my camera!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Cute as a button (or a badge)

Recently, I purchased a badge press. I've been having so much fun the past couple of weeks making badges using some of the fantastic fabrics we have here at Amitie! The badges are $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. I am also making magnets with my badge press ($3.50 each or 2 for $6) and will be putting a selection of both on the new and improved Amitie website and online store which (between you and me) will be launching in the next few weeks so keep your eyes on this space!

Who is amitie girl?

Hi, and welcome to my blog. My name is Lucy and some of you might know me from my job at Amitie Textiles (Bentleigh, Victoria). I am Jenny Kingwell's youngest daughter and I have decided to start this blog as another insight into the wonderful world here at Amitie and also what my role is whilst at work!

I will also be blogging about my life outside these walls, what I find inspirational and my creative outlets!
